Home Improvements

Started and failed to finish several projects this weekend; I'm currently down one enormous and enormously ugly dining room chandelier. Started touch-up painting with some cans that the previous residents left then realized I had the wrong color. No big deal, they weren't big spots. I started over with the only other can that could have matched the kitchen paint. SURELY it was the right one. It looked good going on, a little bit darker than what was already on the wall. Then I got a little too ambitious and started a bigger area before realizing it didn't match either. Wheeee. Several spots, perfectly painted, wrong color.

The Rock Bridge

Whew, already Wednesday and no posts. My trip to Missouri yielded greenery that has yet to show itself in the hinterlands; the pictures are from a state park there. (Aside from the Iowa farmhouse.)

Softball season started, and we're right back in the groove of losing badly.
However, I'm happy to report that I scored a run and went 2 for 2 at the plate. Woot.

Promised Pictures

They're not much, but I promised pictures and I'm good for my word. Plants aren't in bloom here yet, the cold lingers on. In spite of this, the walkers/runners/bikers are out in force. So it's quiet but not a ghost town. Just about right.

Which leads me to my next thought: I need a bike. Nothing special, just enough to propel me around the trails.

Taking one for the Team
Arena football team lost a squeaker  tonight, 34-36. I remain uninjured for the season, which leaves me intact to finish the job of moving-in.

I'm starting to feel comfortable with the house and no longer wander around airheadedly searching for stuff. But the blogging has taken a hit. (It may be several weeks before it recovers.)

Pictures upcoming! And for the curious, here's what it's like when it rains in Texas.

What's this man so happy about? Has he found a cure for cancer? Record-smashing IPO? Finished his taxes?

No! He's the father of Anna Nicole's baby!

Now for the Hard Part
So all my stuff is moved in minus the George Foreman grill that seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth. Now for the hard part: Actually making the place home. The cold snap has done in the tulips that were promising to spring forth and provide some color and life to the otherwise drab surroundings. My stuff is still in boxes and dresser drawer "totes", sans kitchen stuff that Krista helpfully distributed. I still haven't made up a bed proper, just a mattress on the floor until I can get around to buying one that's larger than the twin I've had since I was 4.

So many little things that need to be decided when you're moving in; where do the spoons go? How about the pictures of your high school science fair project? Last and most importantly, what do you name your wireless network? I hope to have everything in provisional places by the end of the week, but I'm afraid that might be too bold.

Went to a hockey game on Saturday; 2nd row tickets thanks to my company's owner. He offered in the general direction of our cubicles and I thought for a second before deciding it would be too much fun to pass up. Players were plastered onto the plexiglass in front of us, leaving big streaks of spittle and/or perspiration. I'm not about to lace up and hit the ice myself, but I enjoyed the game enough to take "hockey" off the "never" list of things in my profile.

I replaced it with "drama".

Move along, Nothing to see here.
No takers on the "6 Degrees" bet? It's just as well; you smart-os could tell the prize was "Project: K.I.L.L." with Leslie Neilsen. It's a movie that should not be viewed by anyone, ever. The subtitle "The only way out is DEATH" should package it up tidily in your mind.

I'm going to be moving this weekend and celebrating Easter, blogging will be light. Enjoy the weather wherever you are, surely it's better than here! (19 with a windchill of 4.)

"How's The Move Going?" With prizes.
Probably best not to ask me that. I've boxed up some stuff and toted it over. The sound system is moved, the Wii too. Some books, a couple of lamps. Cable and internet are hooked up, so the place can officially be lived in.

Football game was a wash; we lost 26-20 in overtime. I consider it a personal victory inasmuch as I was able to walk from the arena under my own sail. No soreness; it's practically a miracle. (And it's almost Easter.. coincidence?)

I have a challenge for you. Blandwagon stumbled upon my blog and thus a link to his own after randomly surfing through 4 sites. I'm offering a very special prize to the first person who can surf through any of the sites on my sidebar to exact;y 6 other sites to arrive back here where you started. The sites can't be search engines, none of the intermediate sites can have links back here, and no backtracking is allowed. The first person who can show me such a path wins!

The prize has a monetary value, but it is small. The object's round and shiny and upon using it for the first time I was overcome with an intense, verocious urge to snap it in half -- but I thought better of it to save for this very occasion.

It features Leslie Nielsen.

Matt and Kelly read from an advertisement for a service that finds out if your spouse is cheating; for some reason it was lying in the front yard. Brian looks on with intense, creepy, backlit interest.
